Police officer salary in Quebec

A police officer's salary in Quebec depends on the employer: each police force has its own collective agreement, and each agreement has its own pay scale. Here are the official scales of the Sûreté du Québec, the SPVM and the RCMP, the median wage for the occupation, and the pay of other peace officers. This page applies to women and men alike.

These are base annual salaries, before premiums. Each comes from the employer's collective agreement or employment contract, on the date shown.

Premiums and specialized roles

At the SPVM, the 2022-2026 agreement adds a 15.10% metropolitan premium in 2026. At the Sûreté du Québec, a specialist constable starts at $106,591 as of April 1, 2026. Our article on the tactical intervention group covers it.

RCMP ranks

The agreement for RCMP regular members sets a scale for each rank, as of April 1, 2024. It expired on March 31, 2025, and no newer rates have been published.
