Our method
The method of the Agent Policier editorial team: where the figures come from, how articles are checked and what the site never does.
Updated on October 15, 2026.
Who writes
Agent Policier is an independent information site. It is not affiliated with the Ministère de la Sécurité publique, the Sûreté du Québec, or any police force, union or school. Its articles are signed by the Agent Policier editorial team.
Official sources only
Figures and rules come from authoritative texts: laws and regulations on LégisQuébec and the Justice Canada website, the École nationale de police du Québec, the Sûreté du Québec, the RCMP, the Canadian Armed Forces, the SAAQ, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes, UPAC, Québec.ca and Canada.ca. When no official source gives a figure, the article says so instead of making one up.
The media are not used as sources. No newspaper article is reproduced.
Every figure is dated
A salary, a rate or a rule changes over time. Each article states the version of the source used or the date it was consulted. The list of sources, with their links, is at the bottom of every article and every guide.
The real questions readers ask
The frequently asked questions at the bottom of articles are the ones people actually ask Google, used word for word. The answer is a few sentences long and relies on the same sources as the article.
What the site does not do
Agent Policier gives no legal advice and no intervention technique. It does not replace legal advice or the directives of a police force or school. For an official process, the rules of the organization concerned are what count.
Report an error
A figure has changed, a source was misread? Write to info@agentpolicier.com or use the Help and contact page, with the link to the article and the source that corrects it.
